We never thought we'd have an easy game - Mara

Uberlandia, Brazil, August 2, 2019 - After a close game Brazil grabbed the victory and are still in the race for Tokyo 2020.

Polina Rahimova (Azerbaijan): "Azerbaijan has never been in an Olympic Games. I think this put more pressure on yesterday’s game against the Dominican Republic. Brazil has a really strong league so they can prepare better than us. Today we could enjoy the game more and improve our performance. I'm happy to be here with my team."

Giovanni Caprara (Azerbaijan head coach): "Our goal is to improve every day,  and on this I'm happy. At this point I'm not interested in how many points one player scored, our focus is to build a strong team."

Gabi Guimaraes (Brazil outside hitter): "It was a really hard game. Azerbaijan played with a good receiving and could use their middle blockers throughout the game. Mara came back really well into the game and we could finish with success."

Mara Ferreira Leao (Brazil middle blocker): "We never thought we'd have an easy game, but it was a hard game. After we fixed our receiving and the setter had the ball in her hands, the game got better. I scored some points and it was good to gain some confidence and to give a new option to our setter."
